About RemoteDevsItaly — Senior Italian Remote Engineers for US Companies

RemoteDevsItaly exists to solve a specific problem: US companies need senior engineers, the US senior labor market is expensive and scarce, and most offshore alternatives force async-only workflows that slow down real product work. We fill the gap with senior Italian engineers working real-time with US East Coast teams.

What We Do

We connect US companies with senior Italian remote engineers through three engagement models:

  • Staff Augmentation — individual senior engineers embedded in your team. They join your Slack, your standups, your code reviews. Functionally indistinguishable from a direct hire, minus the overhead.
  • Dedicated Remote Teams — a 3-10 person squad working exclusively on one client, with an Italian tech lead coordinating with your engineering leadership. Works when you want to delegate a full product area.
  • Project-Based Consulting — scoped engagements with a defined deliverable, typically 2-4 months. Useful for migrations, rewrites, audits or MVPs.

Why Italy

Three reasons, in order of importance for US clients:

1. Timezone Overlap

Italy runs on Central European Time (CET/CEST), six hours ahead of US Eastern Time. A 9:00 AM ET standup is 3:00 PM CET — comfortable afternoon in Italy, productive working hours for our engineers. East Coast teams get 5-6 hours of real-time overlap every working day. Central Time gets 3-4. Pacific gets 1-2 but still enough for one daily sync.

Compare to India, the Philippines or most South-East Asian offshore options: 0-2 hours of overlap, forcing either night shifts for the offshore team or fully async workflows. Fine for mature engineering orgs; painful for fast-moving product work.

2. Engineering Culture

Italian engineers tend to be strong on fundamentals — architecture, code quality, long-term maintainability. English proficiency at technical depth is the norm in Italian tech hubs (Milan, Turin, Rome, Bologna). Working style maps well to US engineering culture: direct communication, sprint-based delivery, pragmatic trade-offs.

Most of our engineers have worked at well-known European or international companies before joining the RemoteDevsItaly network. Vetting is strict — we screen out more than we admit. The engineers you interview are the engineers you get.

3. Legal and Contractual Framework

Italy is in the European Union. Contracts are enforceable under EU law, GDPR compliance is native, IP assignment is standard. NDAs are mutual and legally meaningful. For US companies that handle EU user data, the regulatory alignment is a bonus, not a cost.

How We Work

Every engagement starts with a 30-minute discovery call — no pitch, no pressure, no automated follow-ups. We want to know what your team looks like, what the next six months need, and what has or hasn’t worked before. If we are not the right fit, we say so.

From there, a typical path looks like:

  1. Discovery (30 min): goals, constraints, engagement model that fits
  2. Matching (1-2 weeks): we present 2-3 candidates aligned with your stack and seniority level
  3. Interviews (client-led): you interview the engineers like any other hire. You choose.
  4. Contracting and kick-off (1 week): IP assignment, NDA, start date, tooling setup
  5. Onboarding (3-4 weeks): structured ramp with named buddy, first PR in week one, full velocity by week four

Most engagements are long-term — our typical placement runs 12-24+ months. Low turnover is a feature, not an accident: our engineers are on long-term contracts with us, not gig-style placements.

Regions We Serve

We currently focus on US East Coast states, where the timezone fit is strongest: New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, and South Carolina. We still work with Central, Mountain and Pacific-time companies with narrower overlap — see the Regions page for the timezone math.

Industries We Focus On

We are intentionally selective about verticals. We focus on:

  • E-commerce and retail-tech
  • SaaS (B2B mid-market and enterprise)
  • HealthTech (non-payment)
  • EdTech
  • Logistics and supply-chain software
  • Travel-tech and hospitality
  • Real-estate-tech
  • Media and AdTech
  • Marketplaces, developer tools, productivity software, HR-tech, manufacturing-tech

We do not take engagements in banking, fintech, payments, trading, insurance or lending. That exclusion is deliberate: those spaces come with compliance overhead and positioning risks we choose not to carry.

Principles

  • Named engineers. The engineer you interview is the engineer who joins. No invisible bench swaps.
  • Transparent rates. You know the monthly rate per engineer before signing. No hidden margins, no surprises.
  • IP is yours. All work product is assigned to the client from day one, explicitly contractual.
  • Long-term by default. Most placements run 12-24+ months. Low turnover is the product.
  • Real-time collaboration. Engineers work your hours in the overlap window. Async is a tool, not a crutch.
  • No vertical we would not build for our own company. The verticals we exclude are excluded for a reason.
